Chapter 6

Chapter 6
"Shut up, Jasmine! Shut your mouth!" Aaron snarled at her, turning completely wild with panic as he realized the board members were listening to every single word of her confession.
"I gave you everything, Aaron," I said softly, stepping closer until only a few feet of polished floor separated us. "I gave you the core algorithms. I gave you the funding. I gave you my devotion."
Aaron swallowed hard, his eyes darting frantically between the stern board members and my unyielding gaze, realizing the monstrous scale of the mistake he had made on the aircraft yesterday afternoon.
"Alyssa, please... we are husband and wife," Aaron pleaded, lowering his voice into a desperate, hushed whisper that only those standing immediately around us could hear. "We built this together. Forgive me."
"You did not build this, Aaron," I replied, my voice steady, cold, and entirely devoid of anger. "You merely held the microphone while I wrote the symphony from the quiet shadows."
"And yesterday," I continued, each word landing like an executioner’s axe upon his fragile ego, "you decided to humiliate me in front of your peers to satisfy your shallow, bloated vanity."
"You told me to remember my place, Aaron," I added, a sharp, elegant smile breaking across my face as I signaled the security officers waiting behind the brass turnstiles. "And I have finally remembered it."
"Security, please escort Mr. Prescott and his companions off these premises," I ordered calmly. "Their personal belongings from the executive suites will be boxed and audited before delivery."
Two burly security guards stepped forward immediately, taking Aaron firmly by his upper arms and pivoting him toward the revolving glass doors that opened out onto the rainy city street.
"Get your hands off me! Alyssa! You can't do this to me! I am Aaron Prescott!" he screamed, thrashing wildly against the firm grip of the officers as cameras flashed through the exterior glass.
Evelyn rushed forward, dropping to her knees on the polished marble floor, tears streaming through her heavy makeup as she reached desperately toward the hem of my trousers.
"Alyssa, my dear child, please!" Evelyn begged, sobbing uncontrollably. "He is your husband! Think of our family name! Think of how people will look at us if you cast us out!"
I took a deliberate step backward, allowing Eleanor and our security team to gently but firmly lift Evelyn from the floor, keeping her at a strict, uncompromising distance.
"Your family name was built on my family's quiet mercy, Evelyn," I said without looking down. "Your allowance is terminated. Your leased residences have been reclaimed. You may find lodging elsewhere."
Evelyn wailed in despair, her high-society vanity crumbling into pathetic dust as security escorted her toward the street alongside her disgraced, screaming son and his weeping secretary.
As the heavy glass doors sealed shut behind them, cutting off Aaron’s furious protests, a profound and liberating silence descended across the vast, sunlit atrium of the corporate tower.
I turned back toward the executive directors, who stood waiting with bowed heads and respectful postures, fully aware that the true architect of Prescott Technologies was finally standing before them.
"Ladies and gentlemen," I said smoothly, gesturing toward the express elevators leading up to the grand boardroom on the seventieth floor. "Let us proceed with the restructuring. We have an empire to run."
The board members murmured in unanimous agreement, following me into the mirrored elevator cabins with a deference they had never once shown during the years Aaron played the role of king.
Upstairs in the vast boardroom, the restructuring proceeded with ruthless efficiency; the board voted unanimously to strip Aaron of all executive titles, board seats, and equity allocations for material cause.
By noon, the company had officially rebranded as Vance Technologies, restoring the historical legacy of the research institution my grandfather had founded fifty years earlier in that very city.
Aaron’s personal shares, pledged as collateral against the original seed loans, were surrendered directly to my family trust, leaving him with nothing but millions in pending legal liabilities.
Over the weeks that followed, the consequences of Aaron’s hubris unfolded across the international press, providing a stark cautionary tale for the ruthless circles of corporate high finance.
The forensic accounting audit uncovered a systematic web of embezzlement and illicit transfers that Aaron had orchestrated to maintain his opulent personal lifestyle and finance Jasmine's extravagant demands.
Stripped of his assets, blacklisted by venture capital firms, and facing extensive federal investigations, Aaron was forced to sell his luxury sports cars and personal watches simply to pay retainer fees.
Jasmine turned state's evidence within a month, handing over private messages, bank records, and voice recordings of Aaron directing her to falsify corporate invoices in exchange for personal favors.

Her sudden betrayal shattered Aaron’s remaining spirit, leaving him to sit alone in a cheap, rented suburban apartment, watching his former empire achieve record-breaking market highs under my leadership.
