Ripples in the Timeline

Alex couldn't stop thinking about the calls.

He saved three more people that week.

Small things. Big results.

His boss gave him a raise.

Sarah was safe on the ground.

But nightmares came every night.

Mia dying in the car again.

And a woman in a lab coat standing over her.

Dr. Elena Voss knocked on his office door.

"Heard you predicted the flight delay. Impressive."

She smiled too perfectly.

Alex showed her the phone logs.

She ran voice analysis in her university lab.

"The signal isn't from now," she said quietly.

"It's... folded."

That night the future voice called again.

"Don't go to the lab tomorrow. She wants to trace me."

Alex met Elena anyway.

She had coffee ready.

And hidden recording equipment.

"This could be the breakthrough of the century."

Her green eyes studied him too closely.

Alex felt the phone vibrate in his pocket.

Unknown number.

He stepped away.

"She's hiding something," the voice warned.

"Remember the scar on my - your - left hand? She put it there."

Alex looked down.

No scar yet.

Back at home, Sarah visited.

"You're different lately. Scared."

She noticed the new quantum drive on his desk.

Small. Silver. Warm to the touch.

Data from the future, the voice said.

But when Alex plugged it in, his files started rewriting themselves.

Photos of Mia changed.

In one she was alive.

In another she never existed.

Elena texted him late.

"Meet me at the old warehouse. I have proof."

Alex stood in the rain again.

Phone in hand.

The voice spoke one last time that night.

"If you meet her, I might stop existing."

A car door slammed down the block.

Footsteps in the puddles.

Someone was coming for the phone.
