Heidi Klum opened up about the unique challenges that came with transforming into a living statue at the 2026 Met Gala.
The supermodel shared a hilarious video of her in the back of a sprinter van while revealing one of the complications of her full-body costume.
Klum also shared a clip of her getting into the costume with the help of makeup artist Mike Marino, who is responsible for her bold Halloween looks.
Heidi Klum ensured all eyes were on her own the 2026 Met Gala steps as she made an entrance in one of the most talked-about looks of the evening: An optical illusion gown, headdress, and full glam that made her look like she’d transformed into a statue made out of white marble. However, Klum revealed her viral style statement—an ode to a famous stone bust—came with a serious complication behind the scenes.

The supermodel is no stranger to a full-blown transformation, as evidenced by her many Heidiween party Halloween costumes that have seen her morph into everything from a terrifying Medusa with a snake tong to a giant worm. At the May 4 gala, Klum embraced the evening’s “fashion is art” theme as yet another opportunity for an artistic metamorphosis, this time recreating Raffaelle Monti’s marble statue “Veiled Lady.”

Unsurprisingly, Klum’s intensive makeup and soft foam latex costume presented some unique challenges, which she illustrated in a hilarious TikTok video posted late on Monday evening. In the clip, the star could be seen looking like a statue as she gingerly balanced propped up in the back of a lit-up sprinter van. "Thinking about the fact that statues don't get bathroom breaks," she joked.

While Klum might have had to forgo visiting the Met Gala bathroom, she told The New York Times via email that despite her costume’s rigid, statuesque appearance, the latex material was more flexible than it appeared. “The design allowed for much more movement than it appeared, so I could eat and use my hands quite comfortably,” she said.
However, Klum also told Vogue on the red carpet that the costume was "a little warm," explaining, "It's a little on the toasty side. It's warm in Manhattan today."
