BREAKING: Illinois Governor JB Pritzker says the plan for “Project 2029” is to have the Trump administration criminally prosecuted.
DU QUOIN - Illinois Governor JB Pritzker issued the following statement today in response to President Trump's remarks targeting Chicago:
“When Donald Trump tries to create chaos to distract from his problems, we’ll call it by its name. Trump and the Republicans are trying to distract from the pain they’re inflicting on working families – from tariffs that drive up the price of essential goods to depriving millions of Americans of healthcare and food.
“After using Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. as testing grounds for his authoritarian abuses, Trump is now openly touting the idea of occupying other states and cities. Trump’s goal is to sow fear in our communities and destabilize existing public safety efforts – all to create a pretext for his continued abuse of power.” He's playing a game and creating a drama for the press to participate in.

“We don’t play those games in Illinois. Our commitment to law and order is yielding tangible results. Crime rates are improving. Homicide has dropped more than 30 percent in Chicago in just the last year. Our progress in reducing crime is thanks to community violence intervention programs that the Trump administration is cutting funding for.
“Our state and local law enforcement partners know our neighborhoods and streets because they live here too. They didn’t ask for this, and we will continue to listen to and cooperate with them, as we always have. The safety of Illinoisns is my top priority, so we will uphold the law and protect our state’s sovereignty.”
