Anne Hathaway looks like she walked right out of the pages of Runway for her latest Met Gala look.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 star, 43, sashayed down the Met Gala steps wearing a black-and-white Michael Kors Collection gown that was hand-painted by artist Peter McGough.

While the front of Hathaway's flowing dress featured the image of a hand reaching out to a dove, the back had a stunning painting of the Goddess of Peace sprawling across the black fabric. She finished her look with Roger Vivier heels and Bulgari jewels.
Since she only recently closed out the Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour, the actress admitted to Vogue that she only slept "a little bit" before fashion's biggest night. However, she said she got "a good six" hours the night before.

"Who's luckier than us?" the actress said. "When you get a little bit tired, I'm like, 'Do you like the reason that you're tired?' "
"I'm sure some people don't love the reason they're tired, I'm really into the reason that I'm tired," she added. "It's not gonna be this forever, so I don't wanna miss it."
Vogue revealed in February that the 2026 Met Gala dress code would be "Fashion Is Art," which reflects the Metropolitan Museum of Art's spring 2026 exhibition "Costume Art." The announcement came about two months after the event's co-chairs — Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour — were announced.
The curator in charge of the new “Costume Art” exhibit, Andrew Bolton, said the exhibition will address “the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection” by pairing paintings, sculptures and other objects spanning the 5,000 years of art represented in The Met, alongside historical and contemporary garments from the Costume Institute.

As for Hathaway, she is no stranger to going above and beyond for a Met Gala theme and has previously rocked several iconic looks for the spring fashion event. The Mother Mary actress made her Met Gala debut in 2010 in a glittering champagne gown, and turned heads five years later in a gold hooded column dress.

In 2023, she stunned viewers with a white tweed ensemble by Versace. Her dress featured a full-body slit held together with pearl-embellished gold safety pins and camellia-like cups, inspired by Chanel's signature flower. She paired it with a matching jacket, which she wore draped over her shoulder.

Last year, she donned a Carolina Herrera ensemble for the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," which included a crisp white shirt, striped column skirt and a necklace adorned with a massive gemstone. She accentuated the look with a voluminous ponytail accessorized with a headband, and makeup topped with a bright pink lip.

"I love that being a boy mom has really informed my fashion. I have to always be able to go from a serious business meeting to, like, a basketball court. You have to be able to play pickup basketball at any point, in any outfit," she said.
She jokingly added, "So [I tell myself]: When you get dressed in the morning, dress wisely because you 100 percent are going to have a projectile thrown at you probably by the end of breakfast."
